Equestrian Earns Fifth at College of Holy Cross IHSA Show

HOLLISTON, Mass. -- The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth equestrian team took fifth place at the College of Holy Cross IHSA Show on Saturday.

Freshman Sarah Kieran (Plympton, Mass.) took first place in her open over fences and open flat class and received High Point Rider of the show after winning the ride-off.

In advanced walk trot canter Natalie Fernberg (North Attleboro, Mass.) placed third, Erin Robinson (Medway, Mass.) in fourth and Sarah Murray (Sharon, Mass.) in fifth. Sophomore Colleen Waclawk (Millis, Mass.) earned fifth in her novice fences class. In novice flat class, Waclawk finished in second and junior Rachel Pacheo (Fall River, Mass.) in sixth.

In walk trot, Ciara Barrigas (Sandwich, Mass.) placed second with Kira Hallberg (Foxboro, Mass.) finishing one place behind her teammate. Sophomore Alexandra Koury (Holden, Mass.) took second in her advanced walk trot canter class, while freshman Jill Ruyffelaert (Northampton, Mass.) finished third in beginner walk trot canter.

Equestrian returns to action on Sunday, March 16, for the Johnson & Wales University IHSA Show at the JWU Equine Center in Rehoboth, Mass.
