REHOBOTH, Mass. -- The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth equestrian team opened the 2014-15 season with a fifth place finish out of the ten-team field at the Johnson and Wales University IHSA show on Saturday afternoon at the Equine Center.
Sophomore Sarah Kieran (Plympton, Mass.), who is coming off a tremendous rookie campaign, finished first in her open flat class, second in her over fences class and was awarded the high point rider of the show. Last season, Kieran was named 2014 Reserve National Champion in the open flat event at the IHSA National Championships and competed amongst 38 riders in the Cacchione Cup in Harrisburg, Pa.
Sophomore Nicole Zaun rode for the Corsairs in intermediate over fences, while sophomore Natasha Zuzarte competed in intermediate on the flat. Junior Colleen Waclawk (Millis, Mass.) represented the Corsairs in novice over fences and junior Alexandra Koury (Holden, Mass.) rode in novice on the flat. Junior Captain Erin Robinson (Medway, Mass.) placed 6th in advanced walk trot canter and sophomore Meghan Lefebvre (Fitchburg, Mass.) competed in walk trot.
