TIVERTON, R.I. -- The UMass Dartmouth equestrian team placed third overall at the Roger Williams IHSA Horse Show Saturday afternoon at Harris Farm, as freshmen Casey Bigelow (Princeton, Mass.) and Devon Frasca (Millis, Mass.) earned high point and reserve high point rider honors for their respective performances in the competition.
Bigelow captured first place in the intermediate flat and posted a third place finish in the intermediate fences for the Corsairs, while Frasca was first in her intermediate flat class and fourth in the novice fences. Senior Olivia Van der Meer (Medway, Mass.) added a top performance in the open fences and a fourth place finish in the open flat for UMass Dartmouth, which also received a fourth place performance from junior Michaela Kessel (Haverhill, Mass.) in the open fences.
Juniors Lyndsey Getchell (Dartmouth, Mass.) and Elizabeth Sousa (Fall River, Mass.) recorded respective fifth place finishes in the novice flat and advanced walk trot canter for the Corsairs, who received a sixth place finish from senior Shelby Cunningham (Mattapoisett, Mass.) in the advanced walk trot canter and a seventh place performance from sophomore Kamori Porter-Jacques (Bellingham, Mass.) in the walk trot.
UMass Dartmouth heads to Mystic, Conn. next Saturday morning to compete at the Rhode Island IHSA Horse Show before hosting its own home event on Sunday, November 11th at Claddagh Farm in Rehoboth, Mass.
