Sailing Suspended at Roger Williams

BRISTOL, RI-The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth's sailing team did not get to complete their action on the first day of their fall season at Roger Williams Saturday.

High winds forced the competition to be suspended.

"Due to sustained winds of 35 miles per hour, the Roger Williams Invitational was suspended following race five," said UMass Dartmouth Head Coach Jerry Jennings. "There were no scores reported. Sailing a strong effort for UMD were "A" team (senior) sailors Shawna Denn (Dracut, MA/Greater Lowell Tech HS) and Michelle Guidotti (West Hartford, CT/Conard HS). The "B" crew of (junior) Maggie McDonald (Douglas, MA/Douglas HS) and (senior) Heather Flimlin (Washington, NJ/Warren Hills HS), despite two capsizes in race four, righted the boat and continued to the finish line."

Racing is scheduled to resume Sunday, weather permitting.
