Corsairs Open Season At Mt. Hope Bay Invitational

BRISTOL, R.I. -- The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth sailing team opened the 2014 season with a 14th place showing at the Mt. Hope Bay Invitational, hosted by Roger Williams University.

In a highly competitive field that included teams from New England and Canada, the Corsairs registered a total of 314 points to place 14th out of 18 teams.  The host Hawks captured the team title with 81 points, seven markers ahead of Tufts University.

Lead by captains Kelsey Martins and Emily Doiron, UMass Dartmouth showed steady improvement over the course of the competition and enjoyed their best finish for a season opener in their short three-year tenure.  Strong performances were also given by skipper Kelsey Delosh and her crew Hanna Desilets as well as alternate crew Janelle Hall.

UMass Dartmouth will return to action on Saturday, Sept. 20, when the Corsairs compete at the Boston Harbor Invitational.
