Sailing Places 13th at Central Series 2

BOSTON -- The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth sailing team enjoyed the program's best finish in a major regatta, placing 13th among the 18-team field at the Central Series 2 this past weekend.

The Corsairs finished 14th in both the A and B Divisions to register 381 total points to defeat Colleges of the Fenway, Holy Cross, Amherst College, University of New Hampshire, and Wellesley College.  Tufts University captured the team title followed by host Boston College and Brown University.

Led by junior captain Kelsey Martins (New Bedford, Mass.) and sophomore skipper Kelsey Delosh (Boston, Mass. / Boston Latin Academy), the team sailed their way into their best finish in a regatta of this caliber.  Delosh and her crew Courtney Grippin (Wilbraham, Mass.) ended the weekend on a high note with a ninth place finish.  Sophomore Hannah Desilets (Little Compton, R.I.) and freshman Alex Blair, who was making her collegiate debut, also turned in strong performances.

UMass Dartmouth will return to action on Sept. 27, when the Corsairs travel to the Massachusetts Maritime Academy for the Commonwealth Invitational.
