BOSTON – The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth sailing team opened the spring portion of its schedule this past weekend, placing 15th overall at the Savin Hill Invitational, hosted by Boston College.
MIT captured the two-day title with a combined score of 130, 26 points ahead of the host Eagles. At the conclusion of Sunday's race card, the Corsairs rallied past Wesleyan University and Middlebury College with a combined score of 414 and were within eight markers of the University of Rhode Island (406) and Salve Regina University (413).
In the final day of competition, sophomore Kelsey Delosh (Boston, Mass.) and classmate Courtney Grippin (Wilbraham, Mass.) recorded five top-10 finishes in the B Division, including a trio of eighth-place results. The tandem produced a combined score of 182, besting five other squads.
In the A Division, junior Kelsey Martins (New Bedford, Mass.) and freshman Alix Blair (Gloucester, Mass.) along with reserve sophomore Phoung Pham (Haverhill, Mass.) consistently sailed well, finishing 15th with 232 points.
UMass Dartmouth will return to action on Saturday, May 2, when the Corsairs compete in the Southern Series 7 at the University of Rhode Island.
