BUZZARDS BAY, Mass. - The UMass Dartmouth women's sailing team completed competition at the NEISA New England Fall Tournament on Sunday, hosted by Massachusetts Maritime Academy, finishing the event in 10th place with 142 points.
In day two, the competitors faced strong winds with some gusts clocking in over 20 mph. The Corsairs were the only all- women's team in the event. In their attempts to focus on getting through the races safely they struggled to remain competitive with the heavier coed teams. Despite the conditions, the Corsairs defeated Providence College (148 points) on the event.
Topping the regatta was Massachusetts Maritime, Middlebury and the University of New Hampshire, with 401, 41 and 67 points, respectively.
The Corsairs have one final event this season, the Dark of Night Regatta hosted by Tufts University on November 12.
