CHARLESTOWN, Mass. – Corsair Sailing's pair of boats took home 9th and 12th place, respectively, at the single-day Richard Ross Regatta, held at the Courageous Sailing Center in Boston on Saturday.
How it Happened
UMass Dartmouth fielded two boats in the single-division regatta on Saturday. Sophomore Isabel Rombult (Boxford, Mass.) skippered one of the boats with junior Alix Blair (Gloucester, Mass.) and senior Courtney Grippin (Wilbraham, Mass.) as crew. Senior Hannah Desilets (Little Compton, R.I.) skippered the second boat, with classmate Michaela Carrier (Richmond, R.I.) and junior Shannon McKeown (Franklin, Mass.) as crew.
The teams faced frustratingly light wind for most of the day but despite the conditions, Rombult and crew had a stand out day finishing nearly every race in either sixth or seventh place, a notable improvement from the last regatta. Rombult's boat finished the regatta in ninth place overall. Desilets and crew finished the day in 12th place overall.
UMass Dartmouth will have a week off from competition before competing on Oct. 6 at the Tufts Women's Invitational at the Mystic Lakes in Medford, Mass.
