Sailing Places Sixth At Season Opening Harvard Invitational
The UMass Dartmouth women’s sailing team competes Sunday in the Harvard Invitational regatta hosted at Harvard’s sailing center on the Charles River.  There were 9 teams in total competing with the A and B divisions combined into one fleet.  This was the first regatta of the season for the Corsairs who were lead by team captain Isabel Rombult and Page Veazie in the A division and captain Melanie Muzyka and Abbey Rogers in the B division.

After a very slow start to the day, with breeze only in the range of 3-5 knots, Rombult was able to find her place to the middle of the pack finishing several races in 9th place of the 18 boat fleet.  Muzyka and Rogers (who both have sailed only as crews so far in their carreers) took turns skippering the B boat.

When the final race of the day concluded and the scores were tallied, the Corsairs found themselves in 8th place overall 12 points ahead of the University of New England, 22 points behind Brandies and 29 points behind UCONN.  URI took the top seat with only 32 points combined with Tufts, MIT, BU and Harvard following in order.

The Corsairs sail again next October 6-7 at Mass Maritime Academy in the Great Herring Pond Open.
