DARTMOUTH, Mass. – The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth Athletics Department will welcome back former Corsairs on Saturday, April 22 for the annual Spring alumni weekend. UMass Dartmouth will host four Little East Conference contests, highlighted by the 50th Anniversary celebration of the baseball and men’s tennis programs.
UMass Dartmouth (18-12, 6-1 LEC) will square off against Western Connecticut State University (12-14, 1-6) in the first game of a conference baseball doubleheader at 12pm. Prior to the start of Game 1, the Corsairs will recognize their four seniors who will be playing in their final home weekend conference series. Throughout the twin bill, the 50-year tradition of the UMass Dartmouth baseball program will be honored through a variety of public announcements.
Approximately an hour later, the UMass Dartmouth men’s tennis program (4-9, 1-2) will entertain the three-time defending Little East Conference champions, University of Southern Maine (1-6, 1-2), at the UMD Tennis Courts. Prior to the player introductions, the Corsairs will identify all alumni in the crowd.
The UMass Dartmouth softball team (17-15, 3-5) will also host the University of Southern Maine (11-12, 3-3) in a critical conference doubleheader at 1pm, while the UMass Dartmouth men’s lacrosse program (3-9, 0-4) will face off against Little East Conference rival Western Connecticut State University (6-6, 2-2) on Cressy Field.
In an effort to enhance the spectator experience, the UMass Dartmouth Office of Alumni Relations has arranged for the OxCart from Oxford Creamery (Mattapoisett) to sell a variety of ballpark favorites between 2 and 4pm in the Tripp Athletic Center Picnic Grove. The menu includes hot dogs, burgers, sausages, French fries, and popcorn, in addition to refreshments and ice cream.
Fans unable to make the trip to Dartmouth can follow all the action on Game Central.
