FITCHBURG, MA-The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth's baseball team had their baseball doubleheader at host Fitchburg State postponed because of unplayable field conditions at Michael P. Riccards Field at the Elliott Athletic Complex Saturday.
"We had full intentions of playing, but the field froze because it went down to 31 degrees," said UMass Dartmouth Head Coach Bob Curran.
Fitchburg State Associate Athletic Director Keith Brouillard said that frost that formed when the field froze thawed out in the morning, and the field became unplayable as a result.
The games have not yet been rescheduled.
UMass Dartmouth will take a 6-6 record into their home opener Wednesday against Framingham State.
