Baseball Picked Sixth in LEC Pre-Season Poll
March 8, 2011
NORTH DARTMOUTH, MA-The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth's baseball team has been picked to finish in sixth place in the Little East Conference this spring.
The Corsairs, who finished fifth in the LEC last season, received 22 points in the conference's annual pre-season coaches' poll. UMass Boston, which won both the LEC Tournament and the NCAA Northeast Regional Tournament last year, was picked to finish first, with six first-place votes and 61 points. Keene State and Eastern Connecticut State each received one first place vote and 49 points and were picked to tie for second. Southern Maine and Rhode Island College were also picked to finish ahead of the Corsairs, while Western Connecticut State and Plymouth State were picked to finish behind UMass Dartmouth.
"It's a fair representation of the league as a whole, going off last year," said UMass Dartmouth Head Coach Bob Curran. "Last year, we beat everybody in the conference except for Keene State, and we're looking to improve on last year."
The Corsairs will open their 2010 season this Saturday, March 12th against Curry as part of their spring trip to Florida.
