NORTH DARTMOUTH, MA-Junior right-hander Pat Lavey (Cranston, RI/Cranston East HS) of the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth has been honored by the Little East Conference.
Lavey has been named LEC Pitcher of the Week.
Lavey pitched eight innings in relief on the Corsairs' spring trip to Florida, allowing only three hits, walking three and striking out five. He posted a 0.00 earned run average and had two wins and two saves.
"It's a good honor, and Pat deserves it," said UMass Dartmouth Head Coach Bob Curran. "He started off the season well. We put him in the closer's role, and he has really adapted to it and embraced it. Every time I gave him the ball, he was more than willing to go in and pitch. He did a good job, and he deserves the award."
The Corsairs went 6-4 on their trip and will begin their northern schedule when they visit Bridgewater State Wednesday.
