NORTH DARTMOUTH, MA-Senior first baseman Casey Askeland (Dartmouth, MA/Dartmouth HS) has been honored by the Little East Conference.
Askeland has been named Little East Conference Player of the Week for his performance last week.
Askeland hit .333 with five home runs and 13 runs batted in seven games last week. He also had a double, a triple, scored nine runs and posted a .933 slugging percentage, a .412 on-base percentage, and a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage. He homered in his first three at-bats in the second game of Sunday's doubleheader against Western Connecticut State, accounting for five of the Corsairs' first six runs.
"Casey's honor is well-deserved," said UMass Dartmouth Head Coach Bob Curran. "He had a great week and he really pounded the ball in some important games to close out the Little East regular season."
The Corsairs are 9-27, 6-8 in LEC play. UMass Dartmouth will return to action when they host Johnson & Wales Wednesday afternoon.
