Men's Basketball Picked Fifth in Little East

NORTH DARTMOUTH, MA-The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth men's basketball team has been picked to finish fifth in the Little East Conference this season.

The Corsairs received 26 points in the pre-season coaches' poll, 10 points behind fourth place Western Connecticut State, and two points ahead of sixth-place UMass Boston.

Keene State received six of eight first place votes and was picked to finish first with 62 points. Rhode Island College was picked second with 54 points, and Eastern Connecticut State third with 48 points and each received a first place vote. Plymouth State was picked to finish seventh with 20 points, and Southern Maine was picked to finish eighth with 18 points.

"Right now, I think we're inexperienced, and I don't know what to expect," said UMass Dartmouth Head Coach Brian Baptiste. "We're working hard, we're making progress, we're teaching everyone what we're trying to do, and I'm happy with the progress we're making."

The Corsairs begin their 2012-13 season at home against Wheaton Friday night at the UMass Dartmouth Basketball Classic, sponsored by Hampton Inn.
