NORTH DARTMOUTH, MA-Once again, a member of the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth's men's basketball team has been honored by the Little East Conference.
Junior forward Brandon Stephens (Dorchester, MA/Newton North HS) has been named Little East Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week. It's the second time this season that Stephens has been so honored.
Stephens averaged 26.5 points, 5.5 rebounds and three steals per game as the Corsairs won at Tufts and Southern Maine. He tied his career high with 32 points against the Huskies on Saturday, making 11 of 20 shots from the field, including five three-pointers. He scored 21 points and grabbed eight rebounds in the victory at Tufts.
"Brandon is well-desrving of this award," said UMass Dartmouth Head Coach Brian Baptiste. "He is putting up big numbers as far as scoring is concerned. In addition, he is playing with a tremendous amount of energy, and he works hard every day in practice and in every game."
The Corsairs are 15-6 overall, 7-3 in the LEC. They will return to action when they host UMass Boston in the second game of a Little East Conference doubleheader Tuesday evening.
