March 1, 2011
NORTH DARTMOUTH, MA-Two members of the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth men's basketball team have been honored by the Little East Conference.
Senior forward Brandon Stephens (Dorchester, MA/Newton North HS) has been named first team All-Little East Conference, while freshman guard Emmanuel Tarwoe (Worcester, MA/Worcester North HS) has been named to the All-Rookie Team.
Stephens finished 10th on the all-time scoring list at UMass Dartmouth with 1639 points. He led UMass Dartmouth in scoring in each of the last two seasons while also ranking among the leaders in three-point field goals, steals and assists. The 2007-08 Little East Conference Rookie of the Year, he was named All-Conference as a sophomore and junior and earned All-Region honors last season.
Tarwoe was a valuable contributor at the point guard position, starting 10 games and coming off the bench in his other appearances. He averaged 2.9 points, 2.7 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game while playing well on both ends of the court.
"Brandon had a pretty good year, and was well-deserving of being named first team All-Conference," said UMass Dartmouth Head Coach Brian Baptiste. "As a rookie, Emmanuel did a great job, breaking into the starting lineup, and made a real positive contribution to our team this year." The Corsairs finished fifth in the Little East and advanced to the first round of the post-season playoffs. UMASS DARTMOUTH BASKETBALL
