Men's Basketball Moves Up in Poll

Dec. 9, 2009

MINNEAPOLIS, MN-The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth men's basketball team is ranked 10th nationally in the second in-season men's basketball poll.

The Corsairs, who were ranked 10th last week, moved up one spot after defeating Bridgewater State and Plymouth State. UMass Dartmouth was the top-ranked team in New England in the poll, and the only Little East Conference team ranked in the top 25. Brandeis, a UMD victim November 24th, is ranked 18th, while Bridgewater State, the Corsairs' opponent last Wednesday night, dropped out.

"That's great, I'm happy to see we're still ranked up there," said UMass Dartmouth Head Coach Brian Baptiste. "I hope we can maintain what we're doing, and continue to improve as we go along. We are continuing to get healthier, and I'm excited about the possibilities for the future."

The Corsairs are 6-1, 1-0 in the Little East Conference, and will return to action when they visit Western Connecticut State Saturday.
