WESTFIELD, Mass. – For the third week on the season, University of Massachusetts Dartmouth freshman Stephen Gacioch (Tiverton, R.I.) has gathered Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Rookie of the Week honors.
Gacioch posted his second 200-plus yard passing performance of the fall on Saturday as the Corsairs narrowly fell at Worcester State, 45-40. The quarterback totaled 234 yards on a career-best 21 completions with a 28-yard passing touchdown to Michael Slaughter, Jr. (Springfield, Mass.). In addition, Gacioch pounded in a pair of one-yard touchdown keepers as part of a 34-yard rushing total on 11 carries.
On the season, Gacioch and classmate Jacob Burkhead (Plymouth, Mass.) have combined to collect four MASCAC Rookie of the Week honors for UMass Dartmouth. In five games played this season, he has already amassed 820 yards in the air (136.7 yards per game) with seven passing touchdowns.
The Corsairs wrap up their 2017 home schedule next Saturday, hosting Framingham State at Cressy Field for a noon kickoff.
