Jan. 29, 2010

BOSTON, MA-Fourteen members of the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth's football team have been recognized by the New England Football Conference for their academic prowess.

All were named to the 2009 NEFC All-Academic Team.

The team included 254 student-athletes, all of whom qualified by completing at least three semesters at their current school with a grade-point average of 3.00 or better.

Nine seniors made the list, which also included two juniors and three sophomores. Freshmen were not eligible.

"I am extremely proud of the 14 young men that made the NEFC Academic All Conference Team," said UMass Dartmouth Head Coach Mark Robichaud. "They all represent UMass Dartmouth and the football program extremely well. In addition to the 14 named, we also had 17 freshmen and transfer students who also achieved above a 3.00. I am proud of their commitment to the university, their academics and the football program.
