NORTH DARTMOUTH, MA- Four members of the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth's football team will serve as captains next fall.
Three seniors-linebacker John Kelly (Shrewsbury, MA/Shrewsbury HS), tight end-kicker George Vasiliadis (Worcester, MA/St. Peter-Marian HS), and wide receiver Marc Fiore (Wakefield, MA/Wakefield HS) will join sophomore defensive back Alvin Morris (Dorchester, MA/West Roxbury HS) in leading the team.
Vasiliadis and Morris earned New England Football Conference All-Boyd Division honors last season, while Fiore and Kelly saw substantial playing time. The four were chosen in a vote of team members.
"I was very happy with the outcome of the vote," said UMass Dartmouth Head Coach Mark Robichaud. "All of our captains have seen substantial playing time, and they are all great leaders in the weight room and in the classroom. Alvin will be a sophomore, but he's an older student and the rest of the team picked up on his attitude, the way he plays, and the way he leads. I think it was a great choice."
The Corsairs finished 6-4 overall last year, and 4-3 in the Boyd Division. They will begin spring practice April 6th, and it will conclude May 9th.
