(Dartmouth, MA) - The UMass Dartmouth Athletic Department will throw open the gates to Cressy Field for the second annual Community Day celebration set for this Saturday afternoon Sept. 4th. UMass Dartmouth and the Saxons of Alfred University will kickoff the 2009 college football season at 12 noon and the public is invited to attend free of charge.
"There will be no charge for admission or parking," said UMass Dartmouth Athletic Director Ian Day. "We have had such wonderful support from the area community for so many of our sports that we wanted to give something back. This is our second year sponsoring Community Day and we want to continue to do it as part of an annual tradition on the UMass Dartmouth campus."
Parking for the football game will be available in lots 6, 7 and 8 on the UMass Dartmouth campus. Cressy Field is located behind the Tripp Athletic Center, across Ring Road from the three parking lots.
"We are expecting a very good turnout for the season-opening games," Day added. "We had a great turnout from our students and the community last year and we are looking forward to another large crowd on Saturday. I would encourage people to get to the game early and give yourself plenty of time to get to Cressy Field. We hope it will be a great event for families to come to campus and enjoy Division III college football action."
In addition to the Corsair football game kicking off at 12 noon, the UMass Dartmouth women's soccer team will be hosting City College of New York in a 2 pm game. The varsity soccer field is located directly behind Cressy Field.
