BOSTON, MA-Two members of the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth's football team have earned New England Football Conference Boyd Division post-season honors.
Freshman running back Jaron Hargrove (West Roxbury, MA/Concord-Carlisle HS) was named Boyd Division Offensive Rookie of the Year, while junior offensive lineman Robert Yarbough (Fall River, MA/Durfee HS) was named second team All-Division.
Hargrove led UMass Dartmouth with 366 yards rushing. He averaged 3.6 yards per carry, and also caught eight passes for 32 yards, and returned 10 kickoffs for 171 yards. He scored twice, once on the ground and once through the air.
Yarbough is a two-year starter and three-year letter winner who also is one of the top throwers on the UMass Dartmouth track and field team.
"I am very pleased about the selections of Jaron and Robert," said UMass Dartmouth Head Coach Mark Robichaud. "Jaron has a great freshman year. He did very well as a rusher, pass receiver and kick returner. Offensive Rookie of the Year is a tremendous honor. We are very proud of Jaron and his efforts; he will have a great career here. Robert is already one of the best, if not the best, left tackles in the conference. Robert has an outstanding attitude and is a leader of our offensive unit. Robert has great feet and excels at pass protection, as well as being a devastating run blocker. I can't wait to see how much better he will be next year."
The Corsairs finished at 3-7 and 2-5 in the Boyd Division.
