CRANSTON, RI-The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth's men's golf team shot a team score of 310 for a 36-hole total of 625 and finished second at the Johnson & Wales Fall Invitational, which concluded Sunday at the par-71 Cranston Country Club.
Rhode Island College finished first with a two-day total of 612. Trailing the Corsairs were the Johnson & Wales Blue team at 631, Providence at 661, Babson at 672, and the Johnson & Wales Gold team at 675.
For the Corsairs, sophomore Brendan Kelleher (Hopedale, MA/Hopedale HS) shot a 75 for a 36-hole total of 150 and finished second, five strokes behind the medalist, Patrick Ford of Rhode Island College. Senior George Gillmore (Cotuit, MA/ Barnstable HS/Fairfield) shot a 77 for a total of 154 and tied for fourth, senior Nick Jagoe (Westport, MA/Westport HS) came in at 79 for a total of 160 and tied for 12th, junior Matt Connolly (Lynnfield, MA/Lynnfield HS) shot an 79 for 161 and finished 14th, and junior Kevin Rewinski (West Springfield, MA/West Springfield HS) came in at 82 for a total of 166 and finished 20th. . "We played better than we did yesterday, and it was a good performance to build on, being the last tournament of the fall,' said UMass Dartmouth Head Coach Joel Baptista. "Brandon had a great tournament. Our guys played hard all season, although at times the results weren't there, the effort was. You have to take your hat off to Rhode Island College; they had an outstanding fall season."
The tournament marked the final action of UMass Dartmouth's fall schedule.
