BOSTON, MA-Senior Pete Danko (Norton, MA/Norton HS/UMass) of the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth's men's golf team has been honored by the Great Northeast Athletic Conference.
Danko has been named GNAC Men's Golfer of the Week for his performance at the Duke Nelson Invitational, which concluded Sunday at Middlebury.
Danko shot rounds of 75 and 74 for a two-day total of 149 and led the Corsairs, tying for 13th overall. UMass Dartmouth finished 13th in the 23-team field with a team score of 630.
"The honor is well-deserved," said UMass Dartmouth Head Coach Joel Baptista. "Pete had a great weekend up in Middlebury after a good week of practice. He worked hard over the summer on his game, played competitively, and threw up some low numbers that have carried over to the fall season. Pete's going to be an important piece of the puzzle this season. It's nice to see that he started off on a good note and was recognized for it."
The Corsairs will return to action October 6th and 7th at the Southern Maine Fall Classic.
