WARWICK, R.I. – Junior Jared Fadding's (Lenox, Mass.) round of 78 paced the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth's fifth place team finish on Friday, as the Corsairs competed at the single-round Rhode Island College Spring Invitational at Valley Country Club.

How it Happened
Fadding's 78 (+6) marked his lowest round of the spring thus far on the par-72 course, placing him tied for 14th in the field of 49 golfers. He was followed close behind by senior Michael Byron (Bourne, Mass.) at 79 (+7), who tied for 17th.
Sophomore Jackson Mitchell (Marion, Mass.) fired off a round of 81 for his lowest yet this spring, rounding out the Corsair finishers in the top 20. One of four players to shoot 82 (+10) on the day, junior Bryce Mitchell (Beverly, Mass.) placed tied for 24th.
In his first career appearance for UMass Dartmouth in the top five, sophomore Jonathan Soule (North Easton, Mass.) turned in a score of 84 (+12) to finish 38th overall.
Inside the Numbers
- Valley Country Club played at 6,758 yards for the round, with Western New England taking the team title at a combined score of 300 (+12).
- Fadding and Byron were two of 18 golfers to register a score below 80 on the round. RIC's Austin Cilley was the individual champion and the only competitor in the field to shoot below par (71).
Another one-day event up next for the Corsairs, who will compete next Tuesday at the Newport National Classic, to be held at the Newport National Golf Club in Middletown, R.I.
