WORCESTER, MA-The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth's golf team shot a team score of 317 and finished fourth in a 13-team field at the Nichols Fall Invitational Sunday at the par-72 Green Hill Golf Course.
Holy Cross and Worcester State tied for first at 308, while Endicott was next at 315. Johnson & Wales trailed the Corsairs with a score of 324.
Individually, senior Scott Woodacre (Westborough, MA/Westborough HS) shot a 78, sophomore Brandon Oldham (Mattapoisett, MA/ORR HS/Allegheny/BCC) and sophomore Matt Connolly (Lynnfield, MA/Lynnfield HS) each came in at 79, junior George Gillmore (Cotuit, MA/Barnstable HS/Fairfield) shot an 81, and junior Nick Jagoe (Westport, MA/Westport HS) came in at 83.
"I was happy with our performance," said UMass Dartmouth Head Coach Joel Baptista. "We were very competitive today, although we had a couple of double bogeys and triple bogeys at bad times, and we have to stay focused for all 18 holes. That can make the difference between winning a losing. Overall, it was a solid effort by our team, we finished third among Division III schools, and it was a great week for our team."
UMass Dartmouth will return to action when they host the UMD Fall Invitational next Sunday.
