NORTH DARTMOUTH, MA -The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth's top line accounted for all four goals as the Corsairs defeated visiting Worcester State, 4-1, in a Massachusetts Collegiate Athletic Conference game at the Stephan Hetland Memorial Ice Arena Thursday evening.

Senior forward Rob Dudley (Douglas, MA/Middlesex School) put UMass Dartmouth ahead with a pair of goals in the first period. He stuffed home a pass from junior forward Nick Marquis (Londonderry, NH/Valley Jr. Warriors) at 5:37 of the opening period, with the Corsairs on the power play, and then scored from point blank range at 8:05 to make it 2-0.

Freshman forward Nathan Stanley (Boise, ID/Idaho Jr. Steelheads) cut the UMD lead in half when he deflected home a shot by freshman defenseman Cody Osburn (Sacramento, CA/Fresno Monsters) at 15:21 of the second period with the Lancers on the power play. Marquis made it 3-1 when he re-directed home a pass from senior forward Mike Owens (South Boston, MA/Boston Jr. Bulldogs) at 15:08 of the third period, and Owens iced the verdict when he scored an empty net goal with 19 seconds remaining.

"Tonight was a game in which we had to keep battling," said UMass Dartmouth Head Coach John Rolli. "We were a little flat in the second period. ((Junior defenseman) Zach Hepler (Sarver, PA/Dixie Beehives) and (senior defenseman) Mike Grzelcyk (Watertown, MA/Winchendon School) played very well on the blue line, (junior) Ryan Williams (Milton, ON/Huntsville Otters) turned in a Tim Thomas-like performance in goal, and the story of this game was our first line getting all four goals and leading us to victory."

The Lancers outshot the Corsairs, 36-24. Williams made 35 saves, while senior Bryan Kalczynski (Tonawanda, NY/Erie CC) made 0 stops for Worcester State.

UMass Dartmouth improved to 8-3-1 and 4-1-1 in the MASCAC with the victory, while Worcester State fell to 5-6-2 and 2-4-1 in the MASCAC with the defeat. UMD will return to action when they visit Salve Regina Saturday evening. The Lancers will host Westfield State Saturday.
