BUIZZARDS BAY, MA – Senior forward Phil Bronner (Wilbraham, MA/Springfield Jr. Falcons-EJHL) of the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth has been honored by the Massachusetts Collegiate Athletic Conference.
Bronner has been named MASCAC Hockey Co-Player of the Week.
Bronner scored twice in the final minute and three seconds of regulation time to enable the Corsairs to tie first-place Plymouth State, 4-4, in their final home game of the regular season Saturday. Both of Bronner's goals came with senior goaltender Ryan Williams (Milton, ON/Huntsville Otters-OPJHL) having been removed for an extra attacker and the final goal came with UMass Dartmouth a man short.
Bronner also scored in the Corsairs' 7-4 victory against Fitchburg State Thursday evening, and picked up an assist in Tuesday night's 2-2 tie at Westfield State for a 3-1-4 week.
"Phil Bronner came up big in a crucial situation," said UMass Dartmouth Head Coach John Rolli. He scored two goals in the final minute and three seconds to help us earn a tie versus Plymouth, and secure the second seed in the conference tournament, which assures us of a first round bye and a semifinal home game on February 26th."
The Corsairs are now 9-7-7 and 8-3-6 in the MASCAC. They will play their final regular season game at Framingham State Tuesday evening.
