During his 28 seasons as head ice hockey coach at UMass
Dartmouth, Coach John Rolli's teams have put together an
unprecedented record of accomplishment in New England and NCAA
collegiate ice hockey. Rolli's career record at UMass Dartmouth,
545-167-27 (.756), is one of the highest winning percentages
of any college hockey coach in the country. Entering the
2012-13 season, Rolli is ranked seventh among all active
coaches with 529 career wins, and third in NCAA Division III,
behind Mike McShane at Norwich and Bill Beaney at Middlebury.
Under Rolli's direction, the Corsairs have qualified for Eastern
College Athletic Conference and Massachusetts State Collegiate
Athletic Conference post season tournaments in each of his 28
seasons, winning ECAC Championships nine times. Coach Rolli's
Corsairs won ECAC titles in 1985, 1989, 1993, 1995, 1997,
1998, 2006, 2007, and 2008.
A six-time New England Hockey Writers' Coach of the Year (1989,
1993, 1996, 2005, 2006, and 2007) , four-time ECAC
Coach of the Year (1996, 2005, 2006, and 2007) , and MASCAC
Coach of the Year (2011), Rolli was one of 12 finalists for
the 1999, 2005, 2006, 2007, and 2011 Eddie Jeremiah
Award/NCAA Division III Coach of the Year (given annually to the
College Division Coach of the Year by the American College Hockey
Coaches Association) and was runner-up for the award in 2006.
