PLYMOUTH, NH-Andrew Stewart scored twice and Jack Astedt made 18 saves to lead host Plymouth State to a 4-1 victory over the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth's hockey team, in a Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference game at Hanaway Rink Thursday evening.

Senior forward Jason Stahl (Londonderry, NH/Valley Jr. Warriors) scored the Corsairs' lone goal, assisted by sophomore forward Dan Dempsey (Norwell, MA/Lebanon Valley College) and senior defenseman Adam Horgan (Clayton, NC/Jersey Hitmen) at 12:32 of the third period.

Stewart gave PSU a 1-0 lead at 14;45 of the first period, then scored again at 1:22 of the second period to give the Panthers a 2-0 lead after two. Brian Johnson and Sean Foley scored for Plymouth State in the third period, with the final goal coming into an empty net.

"We went down 1-0 in the first period when they broke out on us three on one, then they scored early in the second period to make it 2-0," said UMass Dartmouth Head Coach John Rolli. "We came in looking for a big energy start at the beginning, but we were outshot in the first period, 14-2, and that pretty much set the tone for the game."

PSU out shot UMass Dartmouth, 33-19. Senior goaltender Collin Tracy (Medford, MA/ Medford HS) made 29 saves for UMD.

UMD is now 9-5-1 and 5-3-1 in the MASCAC, while PSU is now 9-1-5 and 5-1-3 in MASCAC play. UMass Dartmouth will return to action when they visit Worcester State Saturday. The Panthers will host Franklin Pierce Saturday.
