BUZZARDS BAY, MA-Two members of the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth's hockey team have been honored by the Massachusetts Collegiate Athletic Conference.
Senior forward Jason Stahl (Londonderry, NH/Valley Jr. Warriors) has been named MASCAC Player of the Week, while senior goalie Collin Tracy (Medford, MA/Medford HS) has been named MASCAC Goaltender of the Week. It's the third such honor for Tracy this season, while Stahl won the award for the first time this year.
Stahl scored a crucial goal in Saturday's 4-1 win against Plymouth State that allowed the Corsairs to move into first place in the conference, and added four assists in Thursday's 7-2 victory at Westfield State. Tracy posted a 1.50 goals-against average and a .957 save percentage in UMass Dartmouth's two games last week, making 35 saves in Saturday's win against PSU and stopping 31 of 33 shots against Westfield State.
"Jason Stahl, who played in his 100th career game at Westfield, has been our most consistent player this season," said UMass Dartmouth Head Coach John Rolli. "His 12 goals and 22 points lead our team in both categories. Collin Tracy's week mirrored his play throughout the season. His 66 saves on 70 shots in the wins over Westfield and Plymouth for a .943 saves percentage backstopped us into first place with three regular season games remaining."
The Corsairs will return to action when they host Worcester State Thursday evening.
