Five Corsairs Named to ECAC Northeast All-Academic Team

April 13, 2009

NORTH DARTMOUTH, MA-Five members of the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth's hockey team have earned Eastern College Athletic Conference Northeast All-Academic honors.

Senior forward Nick Paquin (Warwick, RI/Winchendon Academy), senior defenseman Eric Quinlan (Saugus, MA/Avon Old Farms), junior forward Matt Serino (Saugus, MA/Avon Old Farms), junior defenseman Paul Moran (Rockville Centre, NY/Boston Junior Bulldogs), and sophomore defenseman Kyle Haas (Newburgh, NY/Northwood School) were honored. Paquin received academic honors for the third time in his career, Serino, Moran and Quinlan were honored for the second time, and Haas was named for the first time.

Student-athletes earning All-Academic honors must have a grade point average of 3.00 or higher, must have completed at least one academic year in residence, and must have competed in half of their team's games during the season (a goaltender must have played at least 33 per cent of the team's minutes.)

"We're very proud of the academic achievements of these five players," said UMass Dartmouth Head Coach John Rolli. "It's no coincidence that these five outstanding student-athletes are also very good hockey players."

The Corsairs finished the 2008-09 season at 16-8-2 and advanced to the first round of the ECAC Northeast playoffs.
