NORTH DARTMOUTH, MA - Three members of the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth men's lacrosse team have been honored by the Little East Conference.
Junior Nick Thayer (Chelmsford, MA/Chelmsford HS) has been named Little East Conference Goalie of the Week, freshman Nicklaus Prozinski (Ashland, MA/Ashland HS) was named LEC Rookie of the Week, and freshman Zach Drolette (Burlington, VT/Burlington HS) was named LEC Defensive Player of the Week.
Thayer posted a 6.19 goals against average and a 57.3 save percentage in two games last week, making nine saves against Nichols and seven against MIT as UMass Dartmouth improved to 5-0. Prozinski scored nine goals in the two contests, scoring six goals against MIT and adding three more against Nichols. He also had eight ground balls in the two games. Drolette collected 12 ground balls in the two games, picking up seven against MIT and five against Nichols while winning 30 of 37 face offs and scoring a goal.
"Nick Prozinski has continued to improve," said UMass Dartmouth Head Coach Kevin Mahoney. "He has worked hard in practice and his hard work has paid off. He is one of a strong group of freshmen. Nick Thayer is one of the best players on our team. He has played well all season, and his play has been a big part of our success. Zach Drolette is another freshman who has played well this season. He did a good job for us on face offs and ground balls and had a nice goal where he won the faceoff and went down and scored."
The Corsairs are 5-0 and will return to action when they begin Little East Conference play at Western Connecticut State a week from Saturday.
