March 14, 2011

NORTH DARTMOUTH, MA-Two members of the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth's men's lacrosse team have been honored by the Little East Conference.

Junior attacker Nick Brett (Loudon, NH/Merrimack Valley HS/AIC) was named LEC Men's Offensive Player of the Week, while freshman midfielder Todd Davis (Sandwich, MA/ Sandwich HS) was named LEC Men's Rookie of the Week.

Brett scored 16 goals and added four assists for 20 points, scoring seven goals in last Tuesday's 17-2 win at Becker, and adding five goals and one assist last Thursday against Wheaton. He scored three goals, including the game-winner, and added two assists in the season opener against Salve Regina.

"Nick Brett has done an excellent job over the past two weeks," said UMass Dartmouth Head Coach Kevin Mahoney. "He is getting comfortable with our offensive sets and playing with enthusiasm."

Davis scored six goals and added three assists in four games. He scored at least once in each game, and also added six ground balls. Davis and Brett helped UMass Dartmouth win their first four games for the first time since the 2008 season.

"Todd Davis has played like a veteran from fall ball, and played first line midfield from the second week in September," said Mahoney. "He is playing like an upperclassman; distributing the ball well, playing two-way lacrosse and finishing his own opportunities."

UMass Dartmouth will return to action when they host Massachusetts Maritime Thursday, April 24th.
