Two Corsairs Claim LEC Honors
March 28, 2011
NORTH DARTMOUTH, MA-Two members of the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth men's lacrosse team have been honored by the Little East Conference.
Junior attacker Nick Brett (Loudon, NH/Merrimack Valley HS/AIC) was named LEC Offensive Player of the Week, while freshman attacker Adam Niden (Walpole, MA/Walpole HS) was named LEC Rookie of the Week.
Brett led UMass Dartmouth last week with eight goals and five assists for 13 points as the Corsairs defeated Massachusetts Maritime and Norwich to improve to 6-0, their best start since the program began. He scored four goals and added four assists against Mass Maritime, and added four goals and an assist against Norwich.
Niden scored eight goals and added one assist for nine points. He scored six goals against Mass Maritime and added two more against Norwich.
"Nick Brett is really coming into his own," said UMass Dartmouth Head Coach Kevin Mahoney. "He is a physical player who is very aggressive going to the cage and he is not afraid to shoot the ball. We look forward to him continuing his level of success. Adam is playing very well. His shots weren't falling during the first couple of games, but he is playing very aggressively, and doing a lot of good things for a freshman. The more he plays, the better he will be."
The Corsairs will return to action when they visit MIT Tuesday evening.
