May 2, 2011

NORTH DARTMOUTH, MA-For the second week in a row, freshman goalkeeper Nick Thayer (Chelmsford, MA/Chelmsford HS) has been honored by the Little East Conference.

Thayer has been named LEC Men's Rookie Lacrosse Player of the Week.

Thayer posted a 5.60 goals against average and a .632 save percentage to lead UMass Dartmouth to a pair of victories in as many games last week. He played the entire game against Salem State and split time against UMass Boston, playing the first quarter. He made 12 saves in the two games.

"Nick is playing exceptionally well, playing above his years, doing a great job in the cage," said UMass Dartmouth Head Coach Kevin Mahoney. "He has become a vocal leader as a freshman, and he is doing very well in the classroom as well." The Corsairs will return to action when they host a Little East Conference semi-final match Thursday evening. UMASS DARTMOUTH LACROSSE
