Castro Makes Pair Of Saves As Men's Soccer Falls To Eastern Connecticut

DARTMOUTH, Mass. --  Junior Max Parent (Yarmouth, Mass.) netted a goal and an assist to lead Eastern Connecticut to a 3-0 Little East Conference men’s soccer victory over UMass Dartmouth Saturday afternoon at Cressy Field.

Junior Griffin Luczek (Lee, N.H.) gave the visiting Warriors (6-1, 1-1 LEC) the only goal they would need 12:58 into the match on feeds from Parent and sophomore David Noel (Armonk, N.Y.), and junior Justin Jensen (Wethersfield, Conn.) extended that margin to 2-0 in the 27th minute after converting passes from junior Sam Hurlburt (Cornwall, Conn.) and freshman Joel Richards (Bridgeport, Conn.).  Parent closed out Eastern Connecticut’s scoring 10:06 after intermission on a feed from freshman Will Toomey (Willington, Conn.), and senior Ryan Murphy (Cromwell, Conn.) took care of the rest in net by making one save to earn the shutout triumph.

Freshman Jacob Castro (Swansea, Mass.) made a pair of stops in the setback for the host Corsairs (0-6-1, 0-1-1 LEC), as Eastern Connecticut outshot UMass Dartmouth by a 12-8 margin overall (5-1 on goal) and took the lone corner kick in the contest.

UMass Dartmouth heads to Keene, N.H. on Wednesday evening to take on Keene State in a Little East Conference match beginning at 6:30 pm, while Eastern Connecticut hosts Western Connecticut in a Little East clash on Wednesday afternoon in Willimantic, Conn. that begins at 4:00 pm.
