WILLIMANTIC, CT--Host Eastern Connecticut State scored twice in the first 10 minutes and went on to defeat the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth men's soccer team, 7-0, in a Little East Conference match at Nevers Field Saturday. Rukevwe Ehwarieme headed home a corner kick in the third minute, and Mike Vekakis headed home a cross at the 8:19 mark to make it 2-0. James Picarella scored 10 minutes later to make it 3-0, and Stephen Bafumi's goal in the 38th minute made it 4-0 at halftime.
Ehwarieme, Maxim Fantl, and Dustin Huguenin scored in the second half for the Warriors.
Eastern Connecticut out shot UMass Dartmouth, 30-7. Freshman goalkeeper Anel Brkic (Milton, MA/Milton HS) made 12 saves for the Corsairs, while Rick Emery made two saves and Carl Appel four for Eastern.
UMD fell to 7-10-1 and 2-4-1 in the Little East Conference with the defeat, while Eastern Connecticut State improved to 13-2-3 and 4-1-2 in the LEC. The match marked the final contest of the season for the Corsairs.
