PLYMOUTH, NH-Tommy Schrey scored twice in the final 5:12 to break a 1-1 tie and lift host Plymouth State to a 3-1 victory over the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth's men's soccer team in a Little East Conference match at Panther Field Saturday.
Schrey's first goal, a deflection, gave the Panthers a 2-1 lead at the 84:48 mark. He scored into an open net with 32 seconds remaining as the Corsairs pressed for the equalizer.
Senior forward Kyle Estrella (Dartmouth, MA/Dartmouth HS/RIC) put UMass Dartmouth on top when he split the defense, broke in against PSU goalkeeper Bjorn Ohlsson and scored in the fifth minute. Moses Igah tied the game in the 29th minute when he headed home Schrey's cross.
The Panthers outshot the Corsairs, 16-6. Sophomore goalkeeper Kellen Rauch (Ashland, MA/Ashland HS) made five saves for UMD, while Ohlsson made one for PSU.
The Corsairs dropped to 8-3-2 and 2-2-1 in the Little East Conference with the loss, while the Panthers improved to 5-7-1 and 1-4 in LEC play with the victory. UMass Dartmouth will return to action when they host Worcester State Wednesday.
