NORTH DARTMOUTH, MA-The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth and Keene State will replay their Little East Conference semi-final men's soccer playoff match.
The match, which was won by the host Owls Wednesday evening, 2-1, was ordered to be replayed after the Corsairs filed a protest, claiming that an officiating error had been made. The match will be played Friday evening, November 5th at the Owl Sports Complex at Keene State.
UMass Dartmouth Director of Athletics Ian Day said that LEC Commissioner Jonathan Harper had informed him that the protest had been upheld.
"The Chair of the NCAA Men's Soccer Rules Committee, (former Seattle Pacific Head Coach) Cliff McCrath, declared that he would uphold the protest by UMass Dartmouth," said Harper. "The prescribed correction is to replay the game in its entirety. The conference office has now scheduled a replay, as prescribed by the rules."
The winner of Friday night's semi-final match will play Rhode Island College for the LEC championship. That match has now been rescheduled for Sunday, and will be played at 1:00 p.m. at either RIC or Keene State.
