Men's Swimming Fifth After First Day at ECACs

HEMPSTEAD, NY-The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth's men's swimming team is in fifth place in a field of 13 teams after the first day of competition at the three-day Eastern College Athletic Conference Winter Championships at the Nassau County Aquatic Center Friday evening.

The Corsairs scored 98 points on the first day of competition.

Individually, freshman Eddy Olean (Seekonk, MA/Seekonk HS) finished seventh in the 1650 freestyle in 17:18.32, and the team of sophomore Eric Frohman (Woodbridge, CT/Amity HS), junior Kevin Janofsky (Brookfield, CT/Brookfield HS), Olean and sophomore Matt Lee (Chelmsford, MA/Chelmsford HS) finished 11th in the 200 yard medley relay in 1:49. 57.

In the three meter diving competition, sophomore Christian Francis (Hampton, NH/Winnacunnet HS) finished seventh with 308 points, and sophomore Conor Szarek (Leominster, MA/Leominster HS) was ninth with 220.35 points.

The meet will continue Saturday and conclude Sunday.
