Christian Francia Takes One-Meter Diving Competition

NORTH DARTMOUTH, MA- Sophomore Christian Francia (Hampton, NH/Winnacunnet HS) of the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth's swimming team won the one meter competition on the first day of action at the New England Division II and III Diving Championships at the Tripp Athletic Center Saturday.

Francia finished first with an 11 dive score of 384.90 points. He finished 2.40 points ahead of the second place finisher, Andy Rumore from Roger Williams. Derek Peabody from Keene State rounded out the top three with a score of 395.90pts. UMD sophomore Conor Szarek (Leominster, MA/Leominster HS) from UMD finished seventh with a score of 305.70pts

The three-meter competition will be held Sunday.

The Corsair swimmers will return to action when they travel to the New England Division II and III Swimming Championships at White River Junction, VT next weekend.
