BRISTOL, RI-The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth's men's swimming team sits in second place after the first day of the two-day Snowball Invitational at the Roger Williams Aquatic Center.
The men saw success on the opening day of the Invitational as they finished third in the 200-yard freestyle relay. The team of sophomore Phil Lowney (Mattapoisett, MA/Bishop Stang HS/Roger Williams), sophomore Michael Gryss (New Bedford, MA/New Bedford HS), sophomore Tim Doucette (Middleboro, MA/Middleboro HS) and senior Kevin Janofsky (Brookfield, CT/Brookfield HS) finished in a time of 1:37.86.
Freshman Bryan Baranick (Assonet, MA/Apponequet HS) won the 200-yard medley in a time of 2:07.09.
Freshman Justin Floeck (Middleboro, MA/Middleboro HS) finished in the 50 freestyle with a time of 23.47.
In the 400-yard Medley relay the Corsairs came in second as Baranick, Lowney, Gryss and Floeck finished with a time of 3:59.36.
"The men did an excellent job of setting the tone early and had very competitive swims in every event. We look to continue our success tomorrow morning," UMass Dartmouth Assistant Coach Owen Worden said.
The Roger Williams Snowball Invitational concludes on Saturday.
