Men's Swimming and Diving Falls to Bentley
NORTH DARTMOUTH, Mass. – The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth men's and women's swimming and diving teams hosted Bentley College on Saturday afternoon at the Natatorium.
UMass Dartmouth (2-2) men's team lost to Bentley 182-99. Junior Phil Lowney (Mattapoisett, Mass.) took first in the 100 backstroke (1:07.80) and the 200 backstroke (2:23.31). In the 400 individual medley, sophomores Bryan Baranick (Assonet, Mass.) and Robert Braza (Attleboro, Mass.) took first (4:41.78) and second (4:55.94). The 400 freestyle relay team comprised of Tim Doucette (Middleboro, Mass.), Edward Olean (Seekonk, Mass.), Julian Jiminian (Springfield, Mass.) and Brian McCauley (Franklin, Mass.) recorded a first place time of 3:52.93.
The lady Corsairs (0-4) fell to the Falcons 184-105. Freshman Kayla Flanagan (Fairhaven, Mass.) earned the top spot in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:04.23. Sophomore Cassie Niles (Raynham, Mass.), junior Kassandra Schell (Hanover, Mass.) and sophomore Astrid Gonzalez (Roxbury, Mass.) took one-two-three in the 100 individual medley for the Corsairs. The 400 freestyle relay team of Cara Butcher (East Longmeadow, Mass.) Cori Spagna (Raynham, Mass.), Liliana Eaves (East Providence, R.I.) and Niles placed ahead of the field with a time of 4:39.95.
UMass Dartmouth men's and women's teams will be back in action on Saturday, November 23 when they host Elms College at 1 p.m.
