Men's Swimming & Diving Notches 160-124 Victory Over Norwich

DARTMOUTH, Mass. --  Both UMass Dartmouth swimming & diving squads closed out their respective regular season home schedules on Saturday afternoon at the Tripp Natatorium, as the Corsair men posted a 160-124 dual-meet victory over Norwich while the UMass Dartmouth women dropped a 131-126 decision to the Cadets.

Junior David Adamski (Wilbraham, Mass.) posted a pair of individual event wins in the 100 (50.59) and 500 yard (5:09.79) freestyle for the Corsair men (4-4), who also received a pair of triumphs from sophomore Justin Chung (Roslindale, Mass.) in the 100 (1:04.34) and 200 yard (2:22.16) breaststroke.  Sophomore Dodhy Saint-Amand (Brockton, Mass.) captured both the one meter (224.47) and three meter (224.62) diving competitions for UMass Dartmouth, which collected a first place finish in the 200 yard freestyle (1:53.63) from junior Kyle MacKenzie (Londonderry, N.H.).

The Corsairs took top honors in both relays on the afternoon, as the quartet of Chung, sophomores Cameron DiBenedetto (East Freetown, Mass.) and Noah Yeskewicz (Middleboro, Mass.) as well as freshman Nathan Motisi (Ellington, Conn.), posted a winning time of 3:56.27 in the 400 yard medley relay.  The tandem of MacKenzie, Adamski, junior Stephen Barrett (Longmeadow, Mass.) and freshman Eric Worden (Portland, Maine) won the 400 yard freestyle relay in a time of 3:25.57 for the hosts.

Freshman Maddie Kovach (Oxford, Conn.) captured three individual events on the women’s side for UMass Dartmouth (1-8), as she won both the 100 (1:04.65) and 200 yard backstroke (2:19.37) while also posting a first place performance in the 50 yard freestyle (27.13).  Juniors Sarah Murphy (Braintree, Mass.) and Abigail Wilson (Newburyport, Mass.) were double winners on the day for the Corsairs, as Murphy swept the 100 (1:15.65) and 200 yard breaststroke (2:38.02) while Wilson took top honors in the 100 yard freestyle (1:03.12) and 200 yard butterfly (2:39.76).  Sophomore Tara Clark (Southgate, Mich.) finished first in the 500 yard freestyle (6:08.62) for the hosts, who received a winning performance in the 400 yard medley relay (4:31.73) from the quartet of Kovach, Murphy, Wilson and junior Kayla Lovy (Londonderry, N.H.).

The UMass Dartmouth women’s team returns to action next Saturday, January 26th by heading to Plymouth, N.H for a dual-meet with Plymouth State that begins at 1:00 pm.
