WORCESTER, MA-The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth's swimming team dropped both ends of their meet to host Clark at the Kneller Athletic Center Saturday afternoon.
The Cougars won the men's meet, 135-105, and took the women's meet, 149-88.
UMass Dartmouth won seven events. Junior Kathleen Foley (Haverhill, MA/Haverhill HS) took two events-the 200 yard individual medley with a time of 2:25.11, and the 200 yard breaststroke with a time of 2:39.90. The 200 yard freestyle relay team of freshman Kim Moore (Billerica, MA/Billerica HS) junior Kaitlyn Kewriga (Stoughton, MA/Stoughton HS), freshman Michelle Favulli (Shrewsbury, MA/Shrewsbury HS), and junior Colleen Foley (East Lyme, CT/East Lyme HS) was first in 1:55.46.
For the men, junior Matt Lincoln (Fall River, MA/Attleboro HS/UMass Boston) won the one meter diving with 211.45 points, and the three-meter diving with 214.45 points. The 200 yard medley relay team of sophomore David Lyons (Haverhill, MA/Central Catholic HS), sophomore Steve Szarek (Middletown, CT/Middletown HS), sophomore Craig Johnson (Acushnet, MA/New Bedford HS) and sophomore David Adams (Tyngsboro, MA/Tyngsboro HS) finished first in 1:46.29. The 200 yard freestyle relay team of freshman Chris Currier-Haymes (Brockton, MA/Brockton HS), freshman Andrew Cefalu (Hudson, MA/Assabet Valley Vocational HS), Lyons and sophomore Andrew Haughey (West Springfield, MA/West Springfield HS) was victorious in 1:38.45.
"We swam well, but we had a lot of people who were sick and didn't swim, and we had to move some people around," said UMass Dartmouth Head Coach Cathy Motta. "We are ahead of where we were last year. We are ready to rest and get ready for championships."
The Corsair women are now 0-5, while the men are 1-3. Clark's men are now 4-0, while their women are 5-0. UMass Dartmouth will return to action when they host Eastern Connecticut State Wednesday evening, December 3rd.
