Swimmers Score at ECAC Championships

EAST MEADOW, NY-The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth's men's swimming team turned in a few good performances on the third and final day of action at the three-day Eastern College Athletic Conference Winter Championships at the Nassau County Aquatic Center Sunday.

In one-meter diving, freshman Christian Francia (Hampton, NH/Winnacunnet HS) finished 10th with 290.75 points. In the 50 yard freestyle, senior Craig Johnson (Acushnet, MA/New Bedford HS) was 34th in 23.23 seconds, sophomore Chris Dodge (Holden, MA/Wachusett Regional HS) was 76th in 24.27 seconds, and senior Andrew Haughey (West Springfield, MA/West Springfield HS) was 81st in 25.11 seconds.

In the men's 200 yard individual medley, freshman Eric Frohman (Woodbridge, CT/Amity HS) was 57th in 2:15.49, while sophomore Kevin Janofsky (Brookfield, CT/Brookfield HS) was 62mnd in 2:21.84.

In the 400 yard medley relay, the team of Frohman, Janofsky, Johnson, and Haughey finished 11th in 3:59.70. In the 400 yard freestyle relay, the team of Haughey, Dodge, Frohman, and Johnson finished 11th in 3:32.51.

"Our men's team had a great meet," said UMass Dartmouth Head Coach Cathy Motta. "Many of our swimmers swam personal bests, and Craig Johnson made the cut for the ECAC Open Championships. We're looking forward to the New England Championships."

The Corsairs scored 161 points and finished in 13th place in a 15-team field. UMass Dartmouth will return to action when they visit Elms next Saturday.
