DARTMOUTH, Mass. – Senior Zach Pavao (Somerset, Mass.) was the lone Corsair victor, as the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth men's tennis team dropped a non-conference affair with Eastern Nazarene 8-1 on Tuesday evening in its first home match of the year.

How It Happened
The doubles portion of the match ended with a 3-0 advantage going to Eastern Nazarene, as the Corsair pairs of Patrick Pacheco (Fall River, Mass.) and Anthony Joseph (Fairhaven, Mass.) and Leon Xiong (Wellesley, Mass.) and Pavao bookended the segment with respective 8-3 losses. In the middle match, Tristin Viale (Westfield, Mass.) and Eli Brooks (Franklin, Mass.) were staved off 8-4 by Laurent Ruttkowski (Castrop-Rauxel, Germany) and Santiago Camero (Valencia, Venezuela).
In singles, the Lions won five of six matches against the Corsairs in straight sets. In the final singles match, Pavao got UMass Dartmouth its first point of the season after defeating his opponent Corey Davis (Derby, Vt.) in a closely-contested battle in the first game (7-5) before putting him away in the second game (6-2).
